A Container Yard (CY) is a secured area at a port or terminal where ocean carriers receive and release shipping containers. Carriers use CYs to manage full container load (FCL) shipments and handle the drop-off and pickup of both loaded and empty containers.
Each ocean shipment has a CY cut-off date, which is the deadline for delivering the container for loading onto the scheduled vessel.
