An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that allows duty- and tax-free temporary importation of goods into multiple participating countries. It is commonly used for commercial samples, professional equipment, or goods for exhibitions and trade shows.
Valid for up to one year, the ATA Carnet streamlines customs procedures and eliminates the need to post bonds or pay import duties at each border.
The ATA Carnet system is accepted in over 80 countries and territories. Examples include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, China, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and Switzerland. Participating countries are members of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and signatories to the ATA Convention or the Istanbul Convention.
