Bulk cargo refers to goods shipped in large, unpackaged quantities rather than containers or individual packages. Shippers transport these materials loose, poured, dropped, or scooped into specialized vessels, railcars, or tanker trucks.
There are two main types of bulk cargo:
- Dry bulk: Includes items like grain, coal, cement, and ores.
- Liquid bulk: Includes commodities such as oil, gasoline, and chemicals.
Unlike breakbulk cargo, bulk cargo flows freely and requires specialized handling and storage equipment.
